For the first time ever, women have overtaken men on the road with 80% of all car purchasing decisions in our hands. Can we get a “Hell Yeah!?”
ChickDriven was imagined and created by women for women. In harmony with the new age push to support women in society, ChickDriven aims to present a path to help our fellow females navigate everything that’s incorporated within the auto industry. We are motivated by empowering chicks to know what’s up when it comes to cars – and furthermore, to care. Regardless of the personal level of involvement, we promote strength and courage, to not be intimidated by the “boys club” mentality. It’s now more important than ever that we inspire and motivate each other to hop into the driver’s seat, feel confident in making those decisions and never get taken for a ride again!
After all, how much time do you spend in your car? How much does your car reflect your personality, and drive the way you want to live your life? Wouldn’t you want to know more about that car, and how it fits within the auto industry since we are the ones leading it?
At ChickDriven, we fully believe and lead our daily lives excitedly to the mantra that knowledge is power. Our mission is to share that knowledge, and that power, with you.
So here’s where we come in: as America’s primary car website for women, we gear all of our content completely 100% toward a previously neglected female audience. Leading the way with totally truthful, candid car reviews, we also lend advice from our own genuine experiences and struggles, while seeking mentorship of highly sought-after professionals for financing, insurance, and other helpful hints necessary to choose your ideal car, and keep it that way. And of course, we never neglect the gents; Men are welcome to have a read, and we invite you to share your own wisdom!
Born and raised in Sydney, Australia, entrepreneurial bombshell Ruby Davis has a voluminous history when it comes to her love and respect for cars. The interest was first piqued when she was a young teen working for her parents – their accountant had an ultra-cool vintage ‘66 Chevy Impala which sparked her drive to know more early on. Next came the attendance of car shows like the Sydney Motor Show, where Ruby learned how engines are constructed and what facets play a part in the overall design of each model, igniting a thirst to know more.
“I found that the more confident I became behind the wheel, the more confident I became in every other aspect of my life.” Upon receiving her driver’s license, Ruby completed several defensive driving courses around Australia to further boost her courage on the road. Immersing herself in the midst of a male-driven culture, she started to pave her own way, fearless among the guys.
As a self driven girl-boss, Ruby searched for a strong female voice as she noticed a massive gap in the market that excluded women as an audience altogether. Coming up short with no answers, Davis decided to take the lead and represent that female audience herself after hunting for her own perfect car and feeling intimidated by pushy car salesmen who preyed on the assumption that she, like many other women, were oblivious when it came to cars.
Ruby founded ChickDriven with a relentless “why not?” attitude in 2015 to inspire all of the independent women who get taken advantage of based on the prehistoric premise that women are not interested in cars and therefore know nothing. She states, “I’ve failed enough times to be friends with fear” which is beyond evident in her fearless efforts to cut through the male dominated market.
With a mission to shed light and share knowledge about the ins-and-outs of the auto industry, ChickDriven was created as a platform to empower women navigating their way through the market by providing them with authentic, supportive guidance and a bona fide, trustworthy voice.
Ruby received the 2016 Athena Rising Star Award at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas in November 2016. The award was given to Davis by the SEMA Business Women’s Network: a car care women’s council comprised of auto professionals dedicated to providing opportunities, education and career leadership to women in the auto care industry.
